International patients

Lung and breathing care in Tabriz, planned before you travel.

If you live outside Iran, you can send your scans, reports and medicine list to the support line before you travel, so the team knows your situation and what to expect.

Before you travel

Please gather what you have. Clear copies are fine to start with.

  • Chest imaging reports (X-ray, CT) and, if you have them, the images themselves on disc or as video/image files
  • Breathing test (spirometry) results, and any earlier lung function or sleep study reports
  • Your medication list: inhalers, tablets and oxygen or CPAP settings you use now, and those you took before, with the dates and why they were changed or stopped
  • Earlier diagnoses, reports from previous specialists, and any hospital discharge notes
  • Your allergies, smoking history and other long-term conditions

Ask the international support line how to send these. Call: +989302272111

How preparing a visit works

  1. 1

    Call the support line

Tell the support team briefly about your breathing problem and ask what to send.

  2. 2

    Send your records

Share your imaging reports, breathing test results and medicine list as the team explains.

  3. 3

    Review of your records

Your documents are passed to the doctor. Whether the doctor can also talk with you online or by phone is being confirmed.

  4. 4

    Next steps

You are told whether the records are enough or whether more tests or a visit in person are needed. Plan, duration and cost are explained before you decide.

  5. 5

    Travel, treatment and follow-up

Ask the support team what help is available for your trip. Examination and any treatment take place in Tabriz, and follow-up after you return home is planned with you.

Online or phone consultation, costs, accommodation options and the languages spoken are being confirmed.

In an emergency while you are in Iran, call 115, Iran's emergency number. It is different from the international support line above.

Practical questions

Can a diagnosis be made from my records alone?

Not usually. A review of your records helps the doctor understand your situation and say what is likely to be needed, but a diagnosis and treatment plan are made after an examination.

Should I stop or change my medicines or oxygen before I travel?

No. Keep using your inhalers, tablets and oxygen as prescribed, and do not stop or change any of them, especially oral steroids, without your own doctor. Bring the list with you. If you use oxygen, ask your doctor and your airline about travelling with it.

Is it safe for me to fly?

That depends on your lungs and is a question for your own doctor before you book. Do not travel if you are short of breath at rest or feel worse than usual.

How long would I need to stay in Tabriz?

It depends on what tests and visits you need. The doctor will give an estimate once your records have been reviewed.

Can a companion come with me?

Companions are welcome. The support team can tell you what help is available.

How do I pay?

Payment details are explained with your plan, before you decide to travel.

What number do I call in an emergency?

115 is Iran's emergency number. It works only while you are in Iran. From abroad, use your local emergency number.

Every patient's treatment plan is different; ask your doctor about your own situation.
